Missed Items Recreation on Antique or Collectible Items

Some features to consider when planning a missed pieces re-creation:

1. Matching Material: Epoxy resins or polyester resins mixed with pigments are commonly used for this purpose, as they can be sculpted and polished to resemble natural marble.
2. Building Up the Missing Pieces: Using the chosen pre-colored epoxy, build up the missing pieces to recreate the original shape of the sculpture. This may involve gradually layering to achieve the desired thickness and contour.
3. Sculpting and Shaping: Once the epoxy has been built up, use sand paper to shape and form it to match the surrounding marble as closely as possible. Pay attention to details such as texture, veining, and surface finish.
4. Blending: Blend the edges of the repaired areas into the surrounding marble to create a smooth transition between the new epoxy and the original surface. This may involve sanding, polishing or tinting the repaired areas to achieve a uniform appearance.
5. Finishing Touches: Once the repair work is complete, apply any necessary finishing touches to the entire sculpture to enhance its appearance and ensure consistency in color and texture. This may include polishing the surface to restore its natural sheen or applying a tint to better hide the newly polished area.
