Marble Grinding or Resurfacing Service
Marble grinding is the most powerful and dynamic process and allows us to provide a variety of different finishes – deep hone, hone, semi-shine, and shine finishes. This task is typically involved in the first step of surface restoration.
Grinding down the surface will smooth out the most imperfections and open a new layer of marble upon which it will be possible to build a high-quality hone-or-shine finish.
Grinding will remove deep scratches or stains that can be on the surface, and it will remove the lippage which is the term used for the uneven tiles that are installed on the floor. The unevenness is possible due to the normal installation, so even a perfectly installed floor can have it.
Tiles should be ground once in a few years because a stone does not have so many layers and has limited thickness. Modern technologies allow for minimizing the impact on the stone surface during its grinding. Since a certain layer of stone is removed from each grinding process, the stone eventually becomes depleted and will have to be replaced.
Dry grinding will generate a lot of dust, so for in-house grinding the wet process should be used. In areas that cannot be reached by a floor grinding machine, grinding can be done with a handheld polisher.
