Polished Caulked Mantelshelf Top Slab
A caulk is actively used for sealing joints between finishing materials or structural elements of various surfaces, like between fireplace and wall.
Caulking of joints is usually carried out in the following order:
First, prepare the work surface: rinse well, remove impurities, treat with degreasing compound and dry out.
Then put the tube with caulk into caulking gun.
Next, cut off the tip of the cap in such a way that the width of sealing layer coincides with the width of the seam. To do this, you need to select the right cut angle.
Then you need to take care that in the process of work, the sealant does not stain the surface next to the seam. For this purpose apply along a paint tape.
Now you can proceed directly to the caulking of the joint: using a caulk gun, try to evenly distribute the compound to the seam.
While the caulk is not cured, you can correct the seam with a special rubber spatula or with a finger soaked in soapy water.
Remove the paint tape and rinse the remaining sealant with soap and water.
