Yellow Coat Mechanical Delamination
The table restoration begins with the aggressive mechanical removal of a 30-year-old polyester resin coating that had suffered from severe oxidation and “ambering” over three decades. This yellowed, brittle layer could not be salvaged through standard polishing because the damage was structural to the resin itself, compounded by deep scratches from previous unsuccessful attempts to sand out stains. Rather than utilizing volatile chemical strippers or dust-heavy dry sanding, we employ a surgical extraction method using razor scrapers and sharpened chisels to physically delaminate the failing polymer from the stone substrate.
The visual contrast during this phase highlights the dramatic shift in color temperature as the “warm” yellowed film is stripped away to reveal the “cool” natural white and grey tones of the marble. Once the bulk of the old material is removed, the surface undergoes a critical preparation stage where the raw marble and bullnose edges are refined with 40-grit sandpaper. This ensures the total elimination of polyester remnants and creates a perfectly keyed surface for the new application, preventing future adhesion failure.

The marble table is branded under the name Creation CAO Marble, made in Italy.
