Granite Countertop Faucet Hole Drilling
How to Drill Hole in Granite for Faucet.
Drilling holes in stone has to be performed with water. Water prevents overheating of the cutting edge of the diamond core drill bit, and flushes the sludge from its edge. This will prolong the life of the drill bit, protect it from jamming, and also stone itself will not overheat and the edge will remain neat.
In a shop environment, when drilling holes in a stone, water is automatically fed into the inner part of the core drill bit under pressure and the drill is constantly cooled and washed with water.
At home, this does not always work. To do this, you can make like a “bath” around the drill hole.
Do not press hard on the bit during drilling, crowns with diamond coating are very sensitive to pressure and overheating. Periodically raise it so it can be wetted with water and cooled.
